Glendale Man To Be Arraigned On Murder Charge In Deadly Metro Bus Stabbing Case
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 43-year-old man is scheduled to be arraigned on a murder charge Friday stemming from the stabbing death of a man on board a Metro bus in Highland Park.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Allan Jay Milton, of Glendale, is accused of using a knife to fatally stab Phillip Melendez, of Los Angeles, after an argument occurred on Monday.
Police said Milton fled from the bus when it stopped at North Figueroa and Meridian streets.
He was arrested by the sheriff's Transit Policing Division on Tuesday.
Authorities originally were searching for three suspects, however, the other two men are now being considered witnesses in the case.
Milton is being held on $1 million bail. If convicted as charged, he faces a possible maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison.
Milton is scheduled to appear in court at 8:30 a.m. in downtown Los Angeles.
