Girl, 18, With Diminished Mental Capacity Found Safe
NORTHRIDGE (CBS) — An 18-year-old female with diminished mental capacity was found safe late Thursday night.
Jiawen "Julie" Ren was last seen Thursday around 11:30 a.m. leaving her home in the 16700 block of Bahama Street, said Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department.
"Investigators (said) she had returned a book to the library, though she was not actually seen and has not returned home or attempted to contact her family by phone since," Rayner said.
Police said Ren has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old but has always been able to find her way home and has never been reported missing before.
Ren has since been reunited with her family.
