Gay Street Artist Says He Painted 'Tastes Like Hate' Message On Torrance Chick-fil-A

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — A local street artist has claimed responsibility for a "Tastes Like Hate" message painted on the side of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Torrance, but police have not yet arrested anyone for the vandalism.

Manny Castro, a self-described gay artist, tells the Huffington Post he painted the graffiti, meant to look like the chain's "Eat More Chikin" ad campaign.

Torrance police say they are investigating.

According to Castro's website, previous artistic endeavors include hanging ruby slippers over power lines throughout Los Angeles and installing oversized simulated cocaine bags on telephone poles around major intersections.

Castro says he was standing up for human rights.

"It's paint on a wall. It got removed in less than an hour. It's not that much of a crime – it's a protest," Castro told the Huffington Post.

Police have not said if they plan to arrest Castro.
