LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — Lancaster High School students are getting a boost from the Gary Sinise Foundation as they work to build a home for a local veteran.

Members of Operation All The Way Home began raising money last year to build a home for Army Spc. Jerral Hancock, who was severely injured during combat operations in Iraq.

OATH students have raised $182,000 for Hancock's home and Wednesday, they received another $60,000 from the Gary Sinise Foundation.

The Lt. Dan Band will perform on May 10 at the Lancaster JetHawks stadium and the proceeds will help with construction costs.

"They can now start moving forward with construction and hopefully on May 10, we'll raise the rest of the money and I hope a lot of people come out and support this," Sinise said.

The students have already purchased the land and plans for Hancock's future home and will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on May 6.
