Gardena Police Search For Hit-And-Run Driver Who Badly Injured Bicyclist
GARDENA (CBSLA.com) — Police are searching for a driver who badly injured a bicyclist in Gardena Wednesday and fled the scene.
Authorities were called shortly before 10 p.m. to 1030 El Segundo Boulevard, where they found the victim lying in the street, according to Traffic Sergeant James Heitmeyer of the Gardena Police Department.
Jessie Dotson, 60, sustained head injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in extremely critical condition. The Gardena resident had been riding to work.
The hit-and-run driver was described as a Hispanic man in his 40s. He was reportedly driving a dark-colored compact vehicle with a "5" in the license plate. The collision shattered the vehicle's windshield.
