The Santa Ana jewelry dealer's body has never been found.

Hernandez's daughter and granddaughter told the judge how devastating that has been for the family, both emotionally and financially. The judge asked for a later hearing to establish restitution.

Nivarez's son Ricardo is also charged in connection with the case and scheduled to go on trial next month.

Investigators believe he carried out the slaying, but his mother conspired with him to rob and kill the jeweler.

Circumstantial evidence led to the conviction of 46-year-old Rebeca Nivarez. The stolen valuables have not been recovered.
