Garcetti Urges Sterling To 'Do The Right Thing' And Sell Clippers
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said Wednesday he wants disgraced Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling to "do the right thing" and sell the team.
Appearing on KNX 1070's "Ask The Mayor" segment, Garcetti said he's reaching out to Sterling to urge him to sell the franchise following his lifetime ban from the NBA over racist comments he made on an audio recording made public Saturday.

"This is something he could fight for a long time in court, but that's not going to be good for his investment," said Garcetti. "Players are gonna leave, sponsors are going to continue to flee, and fans won't show up."
"I want to impress upon Mr. Sterling to do the right thing for the city he says he loves," he added.
Garcetti said he also wants to work closely with Long Beach to keep business humming at both the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach following recent skirmishes with the city of Long Beach over port issues.
In response to a caller's question about traffic issues, the mayor also signaled his intention to take over as the Metro chair July 1 to pursue plans for "a Westwood line, an East Valley line, a Gold Line extension and a line down Crenshaw."
