Furcal Close To Return, To Play Triple-A In Tucson
PITTSBURGH (CBS) Don Mattingly will send shortstop Rafael Furcal to Triple-A on Saturday in Tucson as he prepares to return from a broken thumb.
The Dodgers shortstop has been in the disabled list for about a month after breaking his left thumb while sliding after a steal of second base during a 6-1 win over the San Francisco Giants on April 11th.
Since then Jamey Carroll has been filling in for the shortstop with a batting average of .320 and 16 runs.
