Funeral Services Saturday For 3 Teens Killed While Trick-Or-Treating
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Funeral services are scheduled Saturday for the three 13-year-old girls killed in a hit-and-run accident while trick-or-treating in Santa Ana on Halloween.
A rosary for Andrea Gonzalez will be recited from 5-9 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Cathedral, with services scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church in Orange, according to a family spokesperson.
A wake for twin sisters Lexandra and Lexi Perez will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Funeraria del Angel, also known as MacDougal Mortuary, with services scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady Guadalupe in Santa Ana.
The Santa Ana residents, all declared dead at the scene, were struck in a crosswalk in the 1400 block of East Fairhaven Avenue about 6:45 p.m. by a westbound Honda CRV whose driver fled.
The vehicle was found abandoned about a block from where the fatal accident occurred.
Jaquinn Ramone Bell, 31, was arrested late Sunday morning at a Stanton motel. Bell was driving at a high rate of speed and had his two children in the car at the time of the crash, authorities said.
Bell, driving on a suspended license, is being held in lieu of $1 million bail pending arraignment Dec. 16 on charges of gross negligent vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run.
Bell could face up to 17 years in prison if convicted of the charges, according to Senior Deputy District Attorney Keith Burke.
He faces additional probation-violation allegations, including an August 2008 case of domestic violence as well as a prior hit-and-run drunken-driving conviction in August 2014.
