Fullerton Transient Sentenced To 26 Years To Life In Murder Of Homeless Man
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A homeless Fullerton man was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison Friday for the murder of another transient.
Sergio Camacho Gonzalez, 38, was convicted of first-degree murder in February for bludgeoning 56-year-old Andrew Petrusiak to death.
Gonzalez and Petrusiak got into a verbal argument in a Fullerton liquor store on the evening of Sept. 25, 2010.
After Petrusiak returned to his campsite behind a Fullerton business complex, Gonzalez entered the area at approximately 9:15 p.m. and struck Petrusiak in the back of the head with a piece of wood.
Petrusiak's friend discovered his body and called 911. The Fullerton Police Department responded to the scene and launched an investigation.
Gonzalez, a day laborer who rented rooms in Fullerton and Anaheim when he could afford to, was arrested on March 23, 2011.
