From Santa Monica To Century City, Obama Returns To SoCal To Raise Funds
CENTURY CITY (CBSLA.com) — President Obama returned to the Southland Thursday to raise funds for the Democratic Party and to court the youth vote.
As KCAL9's Dave Bryan reports, there were cheers of support for Obama as his motorcade arrived in Santa Monica, where he took part in a roundtable discussion with more than two dozen people.
The fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee was held at the home of a major entertainment talent agency founder.
Some of those in attendance paid more than $33,000 per couple to be part of it.
Obama was expected to spend Thursday night in a luxury hotel in Century City, which was surrounded by blocked streets, law enforcement officers, and tight security.
Earlier in Hollywood, where the president was interviewed on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," crowds gathered.
Obama arrived at Los Angeles International Airport with Senator Barbara Boxer and Congressman Ted Lieu from West Los Angeles, who flew out with him. Mayor Eric Garcetti greeted the president with a handshake and a hug.
Ironically, First Lady Michelle Obama, whose motorcade traveled through Burbank in the afternoon, was also in the Southland to shoot an interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. However, there was no indication whether she traveled with the president or connected with him during the day.
Obama is expected to travel to Phoenix Friday.
