Fresno St. Cruises Past Cal St. Northridge, 80-64

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Tyler Johnson scored 18 points and grabbed a dozen rebounds to lead Fresno State to an 80-64 win over Cal State-Northridge in its home opener Saturday night.

Johnson had 16 points in the first half, including 10 of Fresno State's first 20 points, helping the Bulldogs to a 41-27 lead at intermission.

The entire starting lineup for the Bulldogs (2-1), all returning starters from a year ago, scored in double figures while the team shot a brisk 55.4 percent from the field. Paul Watson added 13 points, Marvelle Harris 12 and Karachi Edo and Cezar Guerrero 10 each. Allen Huddleston added another 10 points off the bench.

Josh Greene had 17 points and Stephan Hicks another 16 to lead the Matadors (1-2). Stephen Maxwell contributed 13.

Fresno State won for the 26th time in the 31-game series with Northridge.
