'Bad Blood' Behind Multiple Fights At South LA High School; School Police Hit With Bottle
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) - Eight students were detained Tuesday at a South Los Angeles high school after several fights broke out among students.
Officials say Los Angeles Police Department officers were dispatched to Fremont High School on the 7600 block of
South San Pedro Street about 11:30 a.m.
By the time order was restored Tuesday afternoon, eight students had been detained and released to their parents.
Paramedics were also sent to the school, but there were no injuries reported.
A school police officer was also hit in the head with a bottle, but was not seriously injured.
Students told CBSLA's Dave Lopez that "bad blood" between two female students boiled over from last Friday and when they saw each other today at lunch, they began fighting - and the fracas spilled over.
"There's no bad blood here, really, there's no bad blood," said one student. "This school is a real good school, everybody gon' get along."
Police were assisting Los Angeles School Police officers as they investigated what caused the unrest on campus and expected to maintain a "high visibility" on campus Wednesday.
