Free Twilight Concert Series On The Pier Kicks Off In Santa Monica
What better way to celebrate summertime on the West Coast than to enjoy free live music right on the beach?
Florida's Surfer Blood brings their updated surf-influenced sound to Santa Monica to kick off the 29th annual Twilight Concert Series on July 11. Shows are scheduled every Thursday through Sept. 12 beginning at 7 p.m.
The series will feature an eclectic mix of artists with old favorites like Jimmy Cliff, English Beat and Meshell Ndegeocello and newer bands like Surfer Blood and No Age. This year, concerts will also be live streamed for the first time so folks who can't make it to Santa Monica can still enjoy the music.
The concerts are part of KCRW's free, all ages live music Summer Nights series which features live music in other areas of Los Angeles. On July 20 and Aug. 17, listen to live KCRW DJ sets from 8 p.m. to midnight in Chinatown (934 N. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90012). Enjoy fresh air and music in the Hammer Courtyard curated by and featuring KCRW DJs, Thursdays through Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. (Hammer Museum – 10899 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90024). Featuring amazing music, spoken word performances and dance, the Grand Performances series takes place downtown on select Fridays and Saturdays through August (California Plaza, 350 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90071).
