Frank McCourt Testifies In Divorce Case

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Frank McCourt has begun testifying in a divorce trial that could decide whether he has to share ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers with his estranged wife and former team CEO Jamie McCourt.

McCourt took the stand late Tuesday and said it was his wife's idea to come up with a postnuptial marital agreement that would protect her assets from his creditors. Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon will decide if the agreement is valid.

Frank McCourt contends the pact gives him sole ownership of the storied franchise, while Jamie McCourt believes the agreement should be thrown out and the Dodgers, the stadium and the surrounding property should be split evenly under California's community property law.
