Fountain Valley Woman Sentenced In Machete Attack On Husband
SANTA ANA (AP) — An Orange County woman, who recruited a man to kill her husband in a machete attack that left him maimed, has been sentenced to 10 years and four months in prison.
City News Service says Mary Sharpski of Fountain Valley was sentenced Friday for attempted murder and mayhem after reaching a plea deal last month.
Prosecutors say the 50-year-old mother of three and her lover recruited a hit man who hacked at Frank Sharpski with a machete in 2009. Sharpski survived but lost some fingers and must use a walker.
Antonio Ortega, 26, of Santa Ana is serving 25 years to life for the attack.
Sharpski's former lover, 42-year-old Michael Shores, is facing trial.
A 2011 trial for all three defendants ended in a mistrial.
