Former Youth Coach Sentenced To 14 Years In Prison In Lewd Acts Case

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A former Los Angeles Unified School District teacher's aide and youth soccer coach has been sentenced to 14 years and eight months in state prison for committing lewd acts on a child.

Twenty-seven-year-old Jorge Luis Dominguez, of Los Angeles, pleaded guilty in March to sex-related counts involving a 12-year-old boy who wept during a hearing last month while recalling his torment.

"I was thinking about taking my life and the only reason I didn't was because I was thinking of my family... What you did to me was wrong because I was destroyed from the inside," the boy said.

Prosecutors told City News Service Dominguez met the boy while working as a coach at the LA Academy of Arts & Enterprise Charter. The crimes occurred between June 2009 and June 2011, Deputy District Attorney Jane Creighton said.

Dominguez also worked as a teacher's aide at Gratts Learning Academy but was fired from the post following his May 2012 arrest.

Both institutions are in the Westlake District.

Dominguez admitted guilt to 10 felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 and one felony count of possession of matter depicting a minor engaged in sexual conduct.

He will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Creighton said Dominguez apologized for his crimes.
