Former Teacher Gets 35 Years For Killing Ex-Wife's Boyfriend
PASADENA (CBS) — A former high school history teacher was sentenced Tuesday to 35 years to life in prison for the shooting death of a romantic rival.
Brandon Michael Landreth pleaded no contest Jan. 11 to first-degree murder for the March 30, 2008, killing of Justo Cesar Morales. The 33-year-old defendant was sentenced by Pasadena Superior Court Judge Dorothy Shubin.
Landreth taught at John Muir High School in Pasadena and coached chess prior to his April 2, 2008, arrest.
His ex-wife dated the 25-year-old victim during the year after she separated from Landreth, according to evidence presented at a hearing in 2010.
