Former Pres. Bill Clinton Talks Health Care At Summit In Dana Point
DANA POINT (CBSLA.com) — Former President Bill Clinton was the keynote speaker at a hospital care summit in Dana Point Monday.
Clinton's 45-minute speech at the Patient Safety Science & Technology Summit, held at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, centered mostly on health care.
The former president, who just made a surprise appearance at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards, told the audience of medical professionals and CEO's that the world faces serious problems that require networking skills and a cooperative problem-solving spirit to fix.
"The world is still far too unequal in terms of access to health care... and education... and capital to start a job, a business or even getting a job. It is highly unstable because problems from epidemics to terrorism to the financial crisis can cross national borders in a nanosecond," he said.
Clinton also said the United States spends between $850 billion and $1 trillion more a year for health care than the country would spend if it had any other nation's system.
