Former OC Band Director Denies Having Sex With Student

SANTA ANA (AP) — A former band teacher from Orange says she did not have sex with an underaged student.

The Orange County Register says Carlie Rose Attebury took the stand in her sexual misconduct trial Wednesday, and said she was not sexually interested in the boy, who was 15 when the alleged encounters began.

She conceded that she hugged the boy as she did any other "band kid," but it was never sexual.

The former student, now 18, testified Monday that he and Attebury kissed on the night of El Modena High School's homecoming in 2007, and eventually had sex several times at the teacher's house.

The 31-year-old Attebury admitted sexual encounters with two former band students at parties at her apartment, but said both were 18.
