Former NBA Player Steve Francis Arrested For Public Drunkenness At LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Authorities say former NBA player Steve Francis was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for being drunk in public.

Francis, 33, was taken into custody at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday at Terminal 7, Los Angeles World Airports spokesman Albert Rodriguez said.

"Airport police observed a passenger being belligerent towards airline staff at Terminal 7," Rodriguez said in a statement. "The investigation revealed ... Francis was intoxicated and was unable to care for himself."

Francis was booked at the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Station jail, Rodriguez said.

Francis was released about 3:30 a.m. after posting $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the LAX court on Nov. 5.

Francis played with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Houston Rockets.
