Former Laker Matt Barnes Pleads No Contest In 2 Misdemeanor Cases
TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — Former Laker Matt Barnes pleaded no contest Tuesday to misdemeanor charges of driving without a license and resisting arrest, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Barnes, 32, was sentenced to two years summary probation. He was also ordered to complete 30 hours of community service and attend anger management classes for three months.
Barnes, who recently signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, was charged in June with driving with a suspended license. He allegedly resisted arrest when Manhattan Beach police officers tried to serve him with an outstanding warrant on July 30.
He was not in court, but his plea was entered through his attorney, who produced proof that Barnes had a valid license.
He pleaded no contest to an amended unlicensed driving charge, as well as resisting arrest.
