Former King Criticized For Backing Same-Sex Marriage
TORONTO (CBS/AP) -- Sean Avery's support for same-sex marriage has drawn fire from hockey agent Todd Reynolds.
The vice president of Uptown Sports Management tweeted that he was "very sad to read Sean Avery's misguided support of same-gender 'marriage.' Legal or not, it will always be wrong."
The New York Rangers' agitator stated his support for same-sex marriage in a video that is part of the New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign, organized by gay-rights organization Human Rights Campaign.
After his initial tweet, Reynolds subsequently issued several more, saying that he believes in the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman and is not biased toward gays.
Ontario-based Uptown Sports' hockey clients include Chris Neil, Cody McCormick and Mike Fisher.
Avery played for the Los Angeles Kings from 2003 to 2007.
