Former CSUN Student Pleads No Contest To Having Gun On Campus
SAN FERNANDO (AP) — A former California State University, Northridge student suspected of having bomb-making materials has pleaded no contest to having a firearm on a campus.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old David Everson was immediately sentenced to three years of probation and ordered into a residential mental treatment program for six months.
Everson also was ordered to stay 100 yards away from the campus while on probation.
As part of his plea, the remaining count of possession of ingredients to make a destructive device has been dismissed.
Everson was arrested in January after dorm staff referred him to university counselors who contacted police because they were concerned that he was mentally troubled.
Officers found a shotgun and bomb-making materials in his dorm room.
