Former Councilwoman Gets 2 Years In Prison For Bell Corruption Scandal
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A former bell city councilwoman was sentenced Friday to two years in prison for her role in a scandal that almost bankrupted the city.
Teresa Jacobo was ordered to surrender on Aug. 25.
A judge also ordered the ex-vice mayor to pay $242,000 in restitution.
Jacobos the third of five former council members to be sentenced in this corruption scandal who were convicted of stealing a total of nearly $1 million, the District Attorney's Office said.
According to authorities, former Mayor Oscar Hernandez on July 31, and Aug. 1 for former council member Victor Bello.
