Former CHP Officer Charged In Nude Photo Scandal

ALTADENA (CBSLA.com) — A former California Highway Patrol officer has been recently charged amid allegations in a nude photo scandal.

According to CHP officials, Sean Harrington, 35, of Martinez, resigned from his position last week, just two days before charges were filed against him.

Harrington is accused of stealing explicit photos from cellphones of women he arrested at a DUI stop and sharing them with fellow officers.

CHP officers reported that Harrington had previously worked in Altadena before he moved to Northern California.

According to an affidavit, the incident is alleged to be a part of a game some officers play from Los Angeles to the Bay Area.

CHP officers declined to comment on the alleged game, however, they did release a statement that read in part:

"This alleged behavior does not reflect the professionalism of the thousands of members of the California Highway Patrol who pledge to provide the best in safety, service and security to the people of California. We expect so much more and so does the public."

He was placed on leave during the preliminary investigation.

If convicted, Harrington faces more than three years in prison.

Authorities explained charges will not be filed against the two CHP officers who received the photos from Harrington.
