Following Deadly Shooting In Pasadena, Officials Warn Public To Avoid Area
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Officials in Pasadena are asking the public to avoid the area between Lincoln Ave and Mentone and Montana and Idaho, following a shooting Tuesday morning.
Around 11:10 a.m., Pasadena Police responded to the 1900 block of Newport Avenue regarding gunshots heard in the area.
They found two people wounded by gunfire, one critically. A second victim died at the hospital.
Reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, Andrea Fujii said police are being unusually tight-lipped about the incident.
Officials kept the media at least a block-and-a-half away from the crime scene during the investigation.
A red car with Nevada plates was riddled with bullets. The car crashed into a pole presumably after the driver was shot.
Seven hours later Fujii said police were still questioning neighbors.
No one connected with the shooting is in custody.
