Flash Flood Watches Remain In Effect For LA, Ventura Counties
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The National Weather Service has issued flash flood watches through Saturday evening across Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The following areas are impacted:
• San Gabriel Valley;
• Antelope Valley;
• Mountains Excluding Santa Monica Range;
• San Fernando Valley;
• Los Angeles County Coast;
• Santa Clarita Valley;
• Catalina Island;
• Santa Monica Mountains;
A flash flood watch means conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, according to the NWS.
Flash flood watches have also been issued through Saturday evening for the following cities:
• Malibu;
• Santa Monica;
• Beverly Hills;
• Hollywood;
• Long Beach;
• Topanga;
• Avalon;
• Santa Clarita;
• Newhall;
• Valencia;
• Woodland Hills;
• Northridge;
• Burbank;
• Universal City.
Periods of heavy rain with possible thunderstorms are expected, the National Weather Service reported. Because rainfall rates of about an inch per hour will be possible, authorities say there could be significant flooding of roadways and small streams, in addition to rock slides.
Elsewhere, in southwestern San Bernardino and western Riverside counties, a flood warning remains in effect through 5:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the NWS.
