'Flamesniffer' Detects Wildfires, Protects Home
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — You can't live in Southern California without somehow being affected by wildfires.
While there are various ways to protect your family and home from these deadly blazes, one new hi-tech system is detecting fires as far as 1,000 feet away.
The "Flamesniffer" is a system that detects a nearby fire and then employs wireless signals to control a stream of water sprayed onto a house. The system administers the amount of water depending on the intensity of the fire.
"Flamesniffer" personnel install rotating sprinkler heads in the facia and the gutter around a home and, in the event of a fire, a dome of water encapsulates the house.
"Flamesniffer" CEO Chris York says the company is trying to get people, when faced with a nearby fire, to leave their property rest assured that their property will be saved.
