FitBit Data Helps Authorities Refute Sex-Assault Accusation By Woman, Report Says
(CBSLA.com) — A woman who police say claimed she had been sexually assaulted found herself on the other side of the law because of her fitness tracker.
A national morning show reports that the woman is on probation in connection with an accusation that she filed a false police report after her FitBit showed that she had been walking around.
Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman told Jeff Rossen of the "Today" show the department had other evidence but the FitBit data "sealed the deal."
"It sealed the deal for us. We had other evidence that we were looking at. We were suspicious, but the FitBit made all the difference," Stedman said.
