First Look Inside iRoad: CBS2/KCAL9 Test-Drives Toyota's Electric Scooter

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Drivers sick of getting stuck in L.A.'s oppressive traffic will have their hearts racing with Toyota's latest invention.

The iRoad is a three -wheeled electronic vehicle that's a cross between a motorcycle, a bobsled and a smart car.

The plastic and carbon-fiber vehicle leans into each curve, much like a motorcycle would. At less than three feet wide and topping at 37 mph, the iRoad is poised as a way for urban commuters to weave around traffic.

The creators say it can go 35 miles on one charge.

Toyota is calling the iRoad a scooter and says it's still being tested. The company is not yet sure if it will be available for sale and what the cost would be.
