First Lady Begins 3-Day Calif. Visit In LA For Fundraiser, Interview
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — First Lady Michelle Obama Wednesday began a three-day visit to California.
Mrs. Obama is scheduled to speak at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser at the Hancock Park home of "Everybody Loves Raymond" creator Philip Rosenthal and his wife, actress Monica Horan.
Tickets range from $1,000 for the reception to $10,000 for the reception, a photo and a roundtable discussion, the Hollywood Reporter said.
Protests against Trans-Pacific Partnership, a regional trade agreement that aims to boost economic growth by increasing American exports, were planned for outside the event.
Opponents of the partnership claim it will undermine state, local and federal laws, including those governing food safety, environmental protections, Internet freedom, workers rights, health care, drug prices and banking and finance regulations.
Obama is also scheduled to discuss healthy living and the Affordable Health Care Act Thursday on a nationally syndicated radio show.
Obama will spend the final two days of her trip in San Francisco, speaking at three fundraisers.
