Authorities are investigating a fire that destroyed a home in Winnetka on Monday as a possible act of arson. 

The fire was reported a little after 12:45 a.m. at 20020 W. Parthenia Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. 

Firefighters arrived to find the home engulfed in large flames which were threatening nearby homes. It took about 30 minutes for crews to extinguish the flames, but only after they extended to nearby trees, said a statement from LAFD.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

"One nearby residence did sustain superficial damage from the intense heat and flames," firefighters said. 

Later Monday, Los Angeles Police Department officers said that the incident was being investigated as possible arson because a different fire that broke out shortly before the home went ablaze. 

The cause remains under investigation.

No further information was provided.
