Fire Rages Through Wood-Frame House In Downtown LA
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Firefighters took 15 minutes to extinguish a fire that raced through a two-story house south of downtown Los Angeles Tuesday night.
The fire was reported at 9:59 p.m. at 1047 E. 23rd St., between San Pedro Street and Central Avenue, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The home is reportedly 112 years old with a wood frame.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames but managed to keep the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings, he said.
Neighbors reported the house was vacant, Humphrey said.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation, Humphrey said.
