Fire Displaces 14 At Arlington Board-And-Care Facility

ARLINGTON (CBS) — Twelve mentally disabled residents and two staff members have been displaced after a fire at a board-and-care home in Arlington, authorities said.

The fire started in a trash pile outside of the building at Arlington Boulevard and 18th Street at 12:30 a.m., Fire Captain Sean Hughes said.

It quickly spread to a first floor bedroom, bathroom, hallway and curtain, Hughes said.

Nine men and five women between the ages of 49 and 62 years old were displaced, Hughes said.

The Red Cross is helping to arrange places for them to stay, he said.

No injuries were reported.
