Fire Breaks Out In Monterey Park Hospital

MONTEREY PARK (CBS) — A fire at Garfield Medical Center Thursday resulted in the evacuation of some patients, a fire official said.

The fire was reported at 6:40 a.m. on the fourth floor of the hospital at 525 N. Garfield Ave, according to the Monterey Park Fire Department reported. Fire officials say the cause is electrical.

Hospital employees evacuated nearly 100 patients from the third and fourth floor. No one was hurt.

Officials say eight patients are being moved to other medical facilities.

 A damage estimate was not immediately available.
