Fire At Simi Valley Elementary School Forces Evacuations
SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Students and faculty at an elementary school in Simi Valley were evacuated Thursday after a fire broke out on campus.
The fire at Vista Elementary, 2175 Wisteria St., was reported at 9:35 a.m. in a single-story administration building, according to Ventura County Fire officials.
The school was evacuated around 9:55 a.m. and utilities were turned off, fire officials said.
Firefighters called a knockdown around 10:07 a.m., but the building reportedly sustained "significant" damage. Students were reported to be safe and there were no reports of injuries.
School was in session Thursday, but was on a modified schedule for Back To School night, according to the school's website.
No other information was immediately available.
