Finally! Caltech Losing Streak Comes To An End
Caltech Men's Basketball team will guest appear on the Wednesday's LTV Pregame show at 7PM
PASADENA (CBS) — Finally! The longest losing streak in America comes to an end as the Caltech Beavers beat Occidental 46-45, their first win in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference since 1985.
Senior Ryan Elmquist scored the game-winning free throw with three seconds to play and also scored a game-high of 23 points on senior night, the final game of the year.
"Tonight's win is a testament to the hard work each member of this team, the alumni and the supporters have put into this program. I hope that everyone who has participated in Caltech men's basketball is able to celebrate a little bit tonight," third year head coach Oliver Eslinger said. "We still have goals and aspirations that we want to accomplish as a program and this win is another step towards meeting these objectives."
The Caltech Beavers have the dubious honor of losing 310-straight SCIAC games. This losing streak began January 23, 1985 where they beat La Verne 48-47.
