Film And TV Star Danny DeVito Gets Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame
HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Film and television star Danny DeVito received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday.
The ever-quippy DeVito asked, "Do I get to take this home or do we leave it here? Or do I move into this store over here and come and polish it?"
The New Jersey-born DeVito was surrounded by his wife, "Cheers" actress Rhea Perlman, and the couple's three children (daughters Lucy and Gracie and son Daniel).
The diminutive DeVito (he stands 5 feet) is perhaps best known for starring as gruff-as-nails Louie De Palma on the sitcom "Taxi." He currently stars as the bar owner on "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia," which is about to start its seventh season.
The star ceremony coincided with that show's sixth season being released on DVD.
As Sandra Mitchell said on the KCAL9 News at 3 P.M. Thursday, DeVito has starred "in more productions that we have time to mention."
Let the web do the honors. DeVito's credits include the movies "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (opposite longtime pal Michael Douglas), "Car Wash," "Throw Momma From the Train," "Twins," "Romancing the Stone," "War of the Roses" (which he also directed) and "Johnny Dangerously," as well as guest spots on TV series like "Friends," "Ed," "Reno:911" and "The Simpsons."
In addition, DeVito has also been a producer of note. His company Jersey Films has been behind "Pulp Fiction," "Man on the Moon" and "Erin Brockovich" to name a few of their more high-profile projects.
