Female Suspect Fatally Shot By Deputy In Compton
COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Deputies continued their investigation Thursday into a deputy-involved shooting that occurred with a female suspect in Compton yesterday.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent around 4:25 p.m. Wednesday to the 100 block of West Compton Boulevard for report of a man with a gun.
Once on scene, deputies located a female pointing a gun at a man outside of a gas station.
Deputies explained they commanded her to drop the gun several times, however, she did not comply with authorities.
In fear that the suspect would shoot the victim, deputies fired and struck the woman.
She was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, officials said.
A preliminary investigation later revealed that the suspect fired a round off at the victim prior to deputies arrival to the scene.
Detectives reported the man and woman have children in common.
A handgun was recovered from the scene.
The suspect's identity is being withheld pending family notification.
