Female Driver Surrenders After Wild Police Pursuit
LONG BEACH (AP) — The driver of a stolen sport utility vehicle has led police squad cars on a wild chase that included at least five collisions on a zigzag route through Los Angeles, South Gate, Lynwood, Compton, Long Beach and Cerritos.
The woman driver and a female passenger were arrested Tuesday at 10:50 a.m. after a wheel broke off the Ford Explorer and spun to a halt at Del Amo Boulevard and Bloomfield Avenue in Cerritos.
The SUV was stolen in Long Beach and Los Angeles police attempted a stop, setting off the chase after 10 a.m. The SUV traveled at high speed on city streets, sometimes traveling in opposing lanes, on a dash that included several collisions.
It was unclear if anyone was hurt.
