Feds: Thousands Killed By Distracted Driving
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The federal government has teamed up with Consumer Reports to warn teenage drivers about the dangers of texting while driving.
KNX 1070's John Brooks reports says 30 percent of younger drivers find it nearly impossible to ignore an incoming text.

The Dept. of Transportation is behind a new information campaign showing crashes are the leading cause of death for teens.
In 2009, almost 5,500 people were killed in accidents related to distracted driving, but new research shows a majority of teens are not concerned about the problem.
A new TV ad will be bolstered by a pamphlet for parents and teachers called "Distracted Driving Shatters Lives".
