Feds Search Calif. Doctor's Office In Painkiller Probe
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Federal authorities have searched the office of a doctor suspected of prescribing Vicodin and other painkillers to patients who had no medical need for them.
The Los Angeles Times reports the raid took place Friday after undercover agents posing as patients at Dr. John Dimowo's office said the physicians wrote prescriptions for them without first conducting examinations.
Dimowo, the medical director of the California Advanced Pain Institute in Chino Hills, was not arrested and was at work at his clinic Saturday morning.
He did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press. He declined to comment to the Times.
According to a search warrant filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Dimowo wrote an average of 37 prescriptions a day for painkillers.
