FDA Seeks Input On New Cigarette Warning Labels

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Feel strongly about the dangers of smoking cigarettes? Now's your chance to help the FDA make the warning labels on cigarette packs much stronger.

Warning labels on cigarette packets are required by the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act. The FDA is issuing a proposed rule to modify the required warnings, with new warning statements accompanied by color graphics showing the negative consequences of smoking.

The graphics are somewhat disturbing, including an image of a man with a cigarette, with smoke coming through a hole in his neck, a man in a coffin and a graveyard.
