FBI On The Hunt For 'Boom Boom,' 'Purse Packing' Bandits
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The FBI is on the hunt for "the Boom Boom Bandit" and "the Purse Packing Bandit" -- two active bank robbers that appear to be pulling off unrelated heists.
Federal and local law enforcement are hoping that circulating suspect photos and information about the various heists will lead to the culprits.
The so-called "Boom Boom Bandit" uses a written note demanding cash. The notes also list an assortment of instructions, said authorities.
Witnesses describe the "Boom Boom Bandit" as a while male from 6 feet one inch tall to 6 feet 3 inches tall. They say he is between 180-220 pounds and from 35-40 years old. His brown hair is possibly a wig, said authorities.
"Boom Boom" displays a device that looks like red flares wrapped in tape with wires attached, suggesting some kind of explosive device.
He is wanted for at least one robbery (Chase Bank, 12355 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles) and one attempted theft (Bank of America, 11501 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles).
The "Purse Packing Bandit" passes a note to a teller demanding a specific amount of cash.
She has been seen sporting various hairstyles. She is described as a black female, 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 4 inches tall. The "Purse Packing Bandit" is believed to be between 120-140 pounds and from 35-45 years old.
The "Purse Packing Bandit" is wanted for several robberies dating back to last October. She's wanted for robbing a Citibank (8900 Santa Monica Boulvard, West Hollywood), two Chase branches (310 N. Fairfax Blvd., Los Angeles and 3738 Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles) and a Bank of America (8025 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood.)
Anyone who knows the identity or whereabouts of either suspect is urged to call the FBI or dial 911.
