'Father Dollar Bill' Continues Christmas Tradition On Skid Row
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — He's as well known for having a collar as he is deep pockets.
"Father Dollar Bill" continued a Christmas tradition Saturday, handing out money to the homeless on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Catholic priest Maurice Chase gave out one dollar bills and hugs in front of the Fred Jordan Mission at Fifth and Towne streets this morning, with larger amounts going to mothers with children, and the poorest and neediest receiving hundred dollar bills.
The Skid Row ministry is financially supported by the widows of Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra and John Wayne, along with Bob Newhart, Eli Broad, Rick Caruso, Vin Scully and others.
