Father Allegedly Shot To Death By Teen Son In Downey Identified
DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities in Downey have identified the 40-year-old man who was allegedly murdered by his teenaged son Friday.
The Coroner's office identified the victim as Efrain Gainza Jr.
The victim was allegedly shot to death by his 15 year-old son at the home they shared in the 8500 block of Fontana Street about 9 a.m., police said.
The boy, whose name has not been released because he's a juvenile, was booked on suspicion of murder by Downey police later that same day.
"A son inside (the house) told us that he had killed his father," Downey police Sgt. Dwayne Cooper said.
Cooper said it appeared Garza had been shot inside his bedroom.
On Friday, neighbors told CBS2's Michele Gile that the suspect was "a good kid, quiet, a wrestler."
The teen attends Warren High School in Downey.
