Attorneys for Luis Carrillo and Dale Gallipo say they have eyewitness testimony that contradicts the LAPD's version of the shooting of Manuel Jaminez Chum, whom police said was armed with a knife.
Carrillo and Gallipo say Chum did not pose a threat to officers or anyone at that time he was shot.
The LAPD's official investigation into the shooting may take another six months to complete — and any potential trial may not take place until early 2012.
