Fake Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh Playing Cards Worth $218K Seized
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Thousands of fake Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Zexal playing cards were seized from shipment arriving from China at the Los Angeles/Long Beach seaport this week.
Customs and Border Protection officers say if the 33,000 playing cards had been genuine, it would have been worth $218,000.
Counterfeit playing cards are sold online, in street markets and have even been found in legitimate retail stores, officials said, and most parents are unaware they are buying a fraudulent product.
