3 Killed In Small Plane Crash Near Barstow Airport
BARSTOW (AP) — Three people were killed in the crash of a small plane that plowed into a hillside near the Barstow airport, authorities said.
The plane went down about 12:40 p.m. Sunday in a rugged area just off of Interstate 40, about 12 miles from Barstow, San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Arden Wiltshire said.
Three people were confirmed dead, she said. Their identities were not immediately available.
The plane was believed to be a Cessna 210 that was heading from John Wayne Airport in Orange County to Henderson Executive Airport in Nevada, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.
Wiltshire said the plane, which burst into flames, crashed in a rugged area not immediately accessible to vehicles.
The cause of the crash was being investigated.
